Megan Ruhn, Scholarship Recipient
The
2005 Ethel Lathrop Scholarship recipient is Megan Ruhn. This
year we are awarding the scholarship in honor of Ethel Lathrop’s daughter,
Esther, who recently passed on. Dale Kirk and Carolyn Johnson and Ernest and
Marie Lathrop came to honor Ethel and celebrate with Megan. This scholarship
was created in honor of Ethel Lathrop in 1972 by the Oregon Extension Homemakers
Council
and
Lathrop
Family. It is awarded annually to a junior or senior who is interested in a
career in Extension.
We are also pleased to announced Megan Ruhn is this year’s recipient
of the Eleanor Trindle Scholarship. Eleanor Trindle, a former Assistant State
Leader
of Home
Economics
Extension,
had a deep affection for Home Economics students. She graduated from OSU in
1937 and taught Home Economics in Newport and Salem. This scholarship was established
by the Oregon Extension Homemakers Council in 1972 in her honor and is awarded
to a junior who has interest in Extension in Oregon. Congratulations Megan!
