Pathway #3: Breaking New Trails

April 20-23, 2009 (Begins at 12 Noon on the first day and ends at 3 PM on the last day.)

Guiding new leaders to sustain organizations, influence policy for young children and families, and chart a course for others to follow.

Sustainability

  • Plan and implement effective marketing to sustain the organization as well as social marketing to build support for young children and their families.
  • Use effective methods to craft grant proposals, obtain resources, and build community support.
  • Work with professional boards and collaborative partners to foster sustainability.

Advocacy

  • Articulate the rationale and motivate commitment for effective advocacy for young children, families, and professionals.
  • Contribute to policy development that advances the quality and accessibility of services.
  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies that facilitate positive outcomes.

Professional Leadership

  • Articulate and apply ethical principles to resolve complex issues.
  • Contribute to children, families, and communities through active participation in professional organizations.
  • Motivate and mentor others to improve leadership capacity and enhance services in organizations.
