Rachel Brinker worked on her second URAP session in the “Inventory and Summarization of Innovative Electronic Programs that Provide Education about Hunger and Food Insecurity” project as an Apprentice. She was supervised by Senior Instructor Anne Hoisington from the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Sciences.
Jack Chan worked as an Apprentice with Dr. Jeff Widrick from the Nutrition and Exercise Sciences department on his “Recovery of Muscle Following Disuse Atrophy” research.
Candi Fisher worked in conjunction with Rachel Brinker, in her first term as an Apprentice in the “Inventory and Summarization of Innovative Electronic Programs that Provide Education about Hunger and Food Insecurity” project under Anne Hoisington.
Ruben Guzman Apprenticed with Dr. J.K. Yun and Stamatis Agiovlasitis in their research investigating “Walking Efficiency in Adults with Down Syndrome” in the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Sciences.
Natalie Johnson continued her second term of Apprenticship to Dr. Michael Levenson, from the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences, on a project entitled “Wisdom and Successful Aging.”
Hiromi Omatsu served as a Researcher for Dr. Atiya Mahmood and Dr. Carmen Steggell, faculty members in the Human Development and Family Sciences department’s Center for Healthy Aging Research program. Their research focused on familiarity, acceptance and ease of use in communications and monitoring technologies that facilitate healthy aging in place.
Cameron Saffer worked as a Researcher under Drs Kathy Gunter and Christine Snow from the department of Nutrition and Exercise Sciences. Their on going “BUGSY” (Building Growing Skeletons in Youth) is a longitudinal study examining the effects of jumping exercise on bone development in children. Cameron is more specifically involved with the middle school cohort of the project.
Trent Tam Sing continued his apprenticeship with Dr. Mike Pavol studying the biomechanics of transfers in aircraft lavatories. They are in the department of Nutrition and Exercise Sciences.
