Pre-Med Majors and Options

The College of Health and Human Sciences has four departments with majors that provide unique paths to medical school. Related majors, which incorporate some of the requirements for medical school, include Exercise and Sport Science or Nutrition and Food Management. Students can apply to medical school with any major as long as they also complete required coursework in the sciences and mathematics.

In addition to coursework, there are several other important components of the medical school application. Students interested in attending medical school should meet with an academic advisor in their freshman year (or as soon as possible) to learn about and prepare for the application process. By working with an advisor, students will also establish a mentoring relationship, a critical part of the process. Advising appointments can be made by calling the College of Health and Human Sciences Advising Office at 541-737-8900. Additional information about medical school, and careers in medicine, can be found at http://www.science.oregonstate.edu/node/127.
